friday is wOOt!

for grins, here are a couple of links to some samples of locally animated and produced educational dvds I've gotten to be a part of... the first, Money and Making Change, is geared toward ages 6 and up, and Earth Science is targeting grades 5 and up. I get to voice a penny and a globe, respectively. :) the Rock 'N Learn team is really great, and I'm so thankful to get to work with them.

and can I just say... youtube is flipping addictive.  I've spent the last... however long... looking at things like the video below.  10,000 maniacs - mtv unplugged was my ANTHEM one summer in college, and I remember listening to other albums and songs, like Verdi Cries, and being so so melancholy in the way only high schoolers/collegiates really get. it must be said that I'm pretty sure write softly's REM post influenced me a little in my searches... m. stipe and n. merchant were friends (some think they dated, but I dunno) and liked performing together.

other bands I remember listening to then were Toad the Wet Sprocket, Edie Brickell, the Indigo Girls, Tori Amos, the Lemonheads, Pearl Jam (honestly, I just loved the song 'Daughter'), an Irish band called The Waterboys, the Sweet Relief album.... and I have NEVER fallen out of love with Journey and the BeeGees.

"being apart ain't easy on this love affair
but true strangers learn to fall in love again
I get the joy of rediscovering you
oh, girl, you stand by me
I'm forever yours
faithfully ..."

I have had a long-standing love affair with Journey too.

Oh, and did you hear that "Stayin' Alive" has the perfect tempo to which to perform CPR chest compressions? Just heard that. I heart Barry, Robin, Maurice and Andy Gibb, too. And now you're horrified that I know all their names.
