saturday part deux

backing up again, I know I posted some on facebook but here are some snaps of halloween:

I love these photos so much.

Mr. Steve had the photo stuff set up at church one Wednesday night to capture a few of the kids that come, and Magz willingly participated:

doesn't she look so grown up?!  it freaks me out a little.

We had a baby shower for the Sargents!  It was super-fun and they got some great loot.  :)

hostesses with the mostesses.

crafty crafty!  this is a $5 frame, an image printed from the internet, and some ribbon I had.  I thought it was a fun alternative to a front door wreath for our owl-themed shower.

So.  It's been a very FULL time.  October was a tough month in some ways, and November has had it's own share of challenges.  I find myself craving home time, down time, food cooked in our kitchen, etc. I've got four audiobooks to record the next couple of months and a really large (read: mind-numbing) series of e-learning courses due before Christmas, in addition to whatever regular work is going on (including day trips to Dallas, like, this coming Monday.  ugh.).  I'm a pretty resilient reader, but 5 hrs a day stretches what my brain wants to do, and the muscles around my mouth start to feel crazy.  Between the work and other obligations, I've felt stretched and on the run.  I sometimes consider what to cut out, but the easiest things that come to mind are self-care activities.  I won't even pretend that I've been making space for working out, but I don't feel super bad about it right now.  With the free time I have had, taking care of things at home and being with M & M wins out.

As time marches on and things change like they do, I'm always relieved and comforted at the ebb and flow.  Things feel tight, and you don't think you can stand it a day longer... and then you get a stolen couple of hours to get a latte and stroll through a store and you've suddenly got hope again.  Nothing stays the same, and I really love and bank on that... it's one of the reasons I really like being self-employed, I guess, the variety of it.  Trying to keep a long-range perspective helps me to bear doing things today that I really don't want to do.

I had more to write, but I'm so sleepy now.  Favorite things about this weekend so far:

*  playing in the yard with maggieb after coming home from work
*  DFuller standing in our living room last night, looking like Gandalf in Bilbo Baggins' house.
*  mgb's super spicy pozole!
*  home-roasted vegetables with sausage
*  hot chocolate from CS!
*  pumpkin pancakes with maple syrup
*  today's nap
*  maggiebell
*  michaelbell
*  the hot cookie I'm about to eat.*  a good meeting

from reading the above lists, it's clear that I'll have to return to working out at some point.  :P
